As usual, Riot Gameplay Design Director Mark “Scruffy” Yetter has shown us a small peek into the upcoming patch for League of Legends. This time the patch sees numerous champions buffed and nerfed, while items such as Sunfire Aegis and Shureliya’s Reverie get altered.
Champions
When it comes to Champions, there’ll be some nerfs to Aatrox, Elise, Olaf, Darius, Nunu, Maokai (support) and Akali. Riot is obviously targeting some of the most prevalent and strongest jungle champions with the upcoming patch. Yetter has clarified that Aatrox will undergo a more neutral change concerning his healing, while Maokai and Akali face more general nerfs.
Quick additional update:
-Elise added to nerf list
-Aatrox changes more of a neutral shifting power away from the healing amp
-Kraken slayer damage proc will respect reduced on hit modifiers (Katarina, Aphelios, Urgot)— Mark Yetter (@MarkYetter) January 11, 2021
The buff list is also pretty stacked, with Dr Mundo, Trundle, Shaco, Nocturne, LeBlanc, Caitlyn, Varus, Senna and Soraka being targeted. These feature champions who feel quite underpowered in the current meta, mostly champions who have difficulty in the new environment and with the new items introduced.
Items
Item-wise, Yetter talked about altering other options outside of Sunfire Aegis, making them more attractive to tanks and giving support tanks more options when it comes to builds. This includes altered build paths (and cost changes) for Turbo Chemtank and Frostfire Gauntlet, while Gargoyle Stoneplate gets buffed. Sunfire Aegist sees its mythic passive altered, while Shureliya’s Reverie is tweaked to make it more attractive to enchanters and mages.
