League of Legends – Bjergsen retires from playing competitively

One of North America’s most famed players is stepping down from TSM’s roster. Their mid laner Bjergsen retires after eight seasons of competitive play.

After six years of playing League of Legends for TSM, Danish player Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg steps down from the roster. He will continue to be part of the organization as the team’s head coach.

After six LCS titles, four All-star season titles, and competing at Worlds five times, one of the biggest names in North American League of Legends stops competing. The announcement follows the team’s underwhelming showing at Worlds 2020, where they became the first team to ever go out of the group stage without a single win. According to Bjergsen, the decision was not based on that event though.

While hopes went up when TSM picked up former Team Liquid superstar Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, fans were left questioning the team after the harsh defeat at the big event. Maybe a new mid laner will help the team get back into shape.

“Every day I’m gonna do my best to improve, even if I fail, even if I make mistakes. In the long run, I hope that I can be the best head coach TSM could ever find.”, Bjergsen says in TSM’s announcement video. People in the scene showed their full support after the announcement was made.
