The Trump administration has asked companies such as Riot Games and Epic Games to disclose information on their security protocols. Riot Games (League of Legends, VALORANT) is owned by Chinese company Tencent, which also holds a stake in Epic Games (Fortnite).
According to people close to the situation (first reported by Bloomberg.com), the U.S. Treasury Committee on Foreign Investment is interested in how the companies handle the secure data and information of American citizens. This means that the investments of Tencent in the United States, which include Riot Games, Epic Games and also Activision Blizzard, might be under threat.

It’s not the first time that the Trump administration has looked towards Chinese companies who are active in the United States. Earlier this year they’ve already took steps against ByteDance, who own popular social media video app TikTok, and WeChat (which is also owned by Tencent).
It’s currently unclear if any action will be taken against Tencent regarding Riot Games and Epic Games. As the presidential election approaches Trump seems to have escalated his feud with China, so the possibility of further action certainly exists.
