When looking at the average viewership across the regions, the LEC or European League of Legends competitions sits at the top of the rankings with 266.000 viewers, closely followed by the LCK with 235.000 viewers. The LCS on the other hand doesn’t even reach half of their viewership sitting at an average of 115.000, beaten out by the Brazilian CBLOL, who find themselves with an average of 136.000 viewers. Some of the ERL leagues (LFL, LVP) are even finding themselves close to the same peak of viewers the LCS reached (230.000).
The numbers have led to many fans and analysts speculating as to why this is the case, with many of them agreeing that a lot of established players with dedicated fanbases, such as Jensen and Jiizuke, have not found themselves a team for the Spring Split. The departure of someone like Doublelift also has an impact. Aside from some interesting dynamics at the top, there’s not a lot to look forward to in the LCS, while other regions look more competitive.
According to many fans on Reddit, the dynamics and storylines of the LCS are lacking, leading to them not being interested in watching. On the other hand, viewership for games like VALORANT is soaring. It’s clear that the LCS needs something new to push themselves forward again and it’ll be interesting to see how Riot Games will decide to do that, if they even will.
