LCS Lock-In tournament hype – Is Evil Geniuses winning the LCS?

Granted that this title may be a little hyperbolic, Evil Geniuses has been on a tear in the LCS Lock-In tournament which has been full of surprises up until now. The expected power dynamic where Cloud9 would simply crush everyone and CLG might be a serious contender got a little turned on its head.

Out of all the teams, Evil Geniuses looks to be the strongest right now. Taking out Cloud9 convincingly in their first game of the tournament only to win twice more to sit at a comfortable 3-0 record at the top of the leaderboard of their group. Mid laner Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro seems to be in prime form, top laner Jeong “Impact” Eon-young is playing his heart out while Matthew “Deftly” Chen is showing himself to be one of the best bot laners in the league.

Similarly, 100 Thieves has had some great showings in a group which features both Team Liquid and TSM, with all three teams going 2-1 after three games. 100 Thieves building a team around Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho seems to be paying off big time, while Australian bot laner Ian “FBI” Victor Huang keeps developing, quickly becoming the bot laner to watch.

Things don’t seem as great for CLG, who were tipped to be one of the better teams in the LCS. Granted, they are missing both top laner Finn and Broxah and did show up against 100 Thieves in their match. It’ll be interesting to see how the team develops, as it looks like their bot lane is out of form.
