LCS Lock-In: Evil Geniuses keep winning, Team Liquid looks strong

The quarterfinals of the LCS Lock-In tournament have come to an end as both Evil Geniuses and Team Liquid have secured a spot in the semifinals, where they’ll have to play each other next.

Evil Geniuses has without a doubt been the biggest surprise in the LCS Lock-In tournament with some convincing performances during the group stage. Now they’ve also shown their promise in the quarterfinals, taking apart Golden Guardians. Evil Geniuses once again saw their bot lane Matthew “Deftly” Chen and  Lee “IgNar” Dong-geun shine in convincing performances with Jhin-Alistar and Jhin-Seraphine respectively. Top laner Jeong “Impact” Eon-young also had a strong showing. They would go on to defeat Golden Guardians handily with a 2-0 scoreline.

Team Liquid also showed themselves as one of the contenders in the LCS, defeating FlyQuest in a 2-0 series. When it comes to star players, Team Liquid has superstar Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in on the roster, who did a lot of the heavy lifting from the support position on Leona and a rather unconventional Rell support pick. Mid laner Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen also saw success on Yone and Orianna.

The LCS Lock-In tournament now moves on to the semifinals, which will be played on 29 and 30 January. 100 Thieves will be facing Cloud9 in what is to be their first real test ahead of the season after numerous solid performances, while Cloud9 is still searching for their identity. Evil Geniuses take on Team Liquid in a battle between players on the rise versus established superstars.
