Laure Valée talks about overcoming language barrier and working in LEC

In an interview with Dutch news website esportsclub, LEC interviewer Laure Valée talked about her job on the on-air LEC talent team and the issues that come with it.

One of the biggest topics the interview touched on was the struggles Laure faced with the language barrier and how she’s working to overcome it. “I’ve worked a lot on my English during the summer of 2018. I made a lot of progression and I felt more and more comfortable.” She also talks about the criticism she’s faced during her appearances on the broadcast. “There’s always people who won’t like the sound of your voice. Some say I don’t belong in the LEC due to my accent, but as long as Riot Games trusts me, I’ll trust myself too.”

Working in esports has always been a dream of Laure, who looks back on her career up until now. “I’ve put so much time and effort in my career and to achieve all of this now, … I’d hate myself if I had to give it all up one day. I’ve started out with a dream and now I’ve realized it.”

Laure also briefly touched on the 2021 LEC Season, most notably Rekkles moving to G2 Esports. “I think it’s very understable Rekkles chose to join G2. This was his moment. We’ll have to see how he fits the team and if G2 Esports is really going to be this superteam they envisioned.” You can read the full interview in Dutch here.
