Keemstar announces retirement from YouTube

Keemstar is one of the most prevalent, and notorious figures in the YouTube space. As the host of Drama Alert, Keemstar’s channel has over 6 million subscribers though announced his retirement from YouTube.

Throughout his entire career, where ever Keemstar has gone controversy has followed. Last year, Keemstar lost his GFuel sponsorship after Ethan Klein of H3H3 productions released a video series on Keemstar’s historically dubious behavior.

Known as a troll by fans and onlookers alike, Keemstar assured his audience that his retirement was serious. In the Twitter video released earlier today, Keemstar cited his age as one of the reasons behind his decision to retire. The content creator has recently turned 39 after an over 12-year long career on the video platform.

Keemstar’s retirement comes at perhaps the height of the internet and general public’s disdain for the figure. Though allegations have been present for his entire career, accusations of sexism, racism, and pedophilia have followed the creator in the past year.

Though the 39-year-old did not mention any of these accusations in his retirement video, it is likely that the public ire played a role in his decision. His announcement comes into conflict with previous statements that he would never leave the internet, however he seems serious for the time being.

There is no way of knowing if Keemstar will truly leave his channel for good or will return once the first hit of new drama pops up. For now, we can assume that we have seen the last of DJ Keemstar.
