Katarina and Karthus to receive nerfs in patch 10.20

In a preview for League of Legends patch 10.20, Mark “Scruffy” Yetter (lead gameplay designer) showed which champions Riot Games is scheduled to nerf and buff. The preview is no definitive list and can still change, with patch 10.20 hitting the rift on September 30.

Most of the nerfs seem to focus on solo queue performance, hitting champions who aren’t seen as much in professional play. Karthus will face a reduction to his base armor and HP regen after he became more prevalent in the bot lane, with Kled facing a similar change. Kled’s base magic resist will be lowered after having become a counter-pick in the mid lane.

Other popular solo queue champions such as Katarina and Kassadin are also facing nerfs, with the former being a real menace as of now with a win rate of over 52% as of patch 10.19. Champions such as Lulu and Nunu are also on the chopping block, currently boasting high win rates upwards of 52% and 53% respectively. Lulu will get a nerf to her W attack speed while Nunu faces a lowering of his base armor from 32 to 29.

When it comes to buffs, champions such as Ryze, Varus and Aatrox will be receiving some changes much like Illaoi and Braum. Some interesting buffs are also coming to traditional top lane champions Sion and Urgot, who’ll see their jungling become a bit more effective and possibly heightening their flex potential.
