Is the PGL Stockholm CS:GO Major moving away from Stockholm?

Chances are we might not be getting the PGL CS:GO Major in Stockholm, as it’s likely they’ll have to find a new location, just like The International 10.

It looks like the PGL CS:GO Major might not be taking place in Stockholm just yet, as there’s still a lot of doubts surrounding the event, which is set to take place from October 23 to November 11. CS:GO fans have been looking forward to the PGL Stockholm Major, as it’s the first event sponsored by Valve since StarLadder Berlin, which was played back in 2019, since the COVID-19 pandemic hit.

According to the CEO of PGL, Silviu Stroie, there’s a chance that the Major will have to shift away from Stockholm. In an interview with SportExpressen, one of the biggest Swedish newspapers, he seemed more cautious about the event than he was a while ago, saying that there’s a big chance the PGL Major will have to move away from Sweden after all.

The biggest problem with Stockholm as a host city right now is the status of esports in Sweden, with it not being recognized by the sports federation. This in turn makes it difficult for players and staff to request and secure the necessary visas. Earlier this month The International 10, the biggest event in Dota 2 and esports as a whole, already announced they were moving away from Stockholm.
