Is Team Liquid worse with Alphari? – 100 Thieves rebound against CLG

Team Liquid have had an eventful year, but could they be suffering from their starting lineup?

The long Summer Split in the LCS is coming to a close as we approach the post-season. Team Liquid seem to be stumbling into playoffs however as they have struggled to integrate Barney “Alphari” Morris back into the starting lineup. Meanwhile, 100 Thieves have maintained their spot at the top even after their loss against Cloud9. With only four game days left in the regular season, the standings are still bound to shift.

Will Team Liquid end up in the lower bracket?

With Thomas “Jenkins” Tran, Team Liquid was able to climb up the standings and find a winning record. Ever since implementing Alphari back into the roster, Team Liquid have struggled to maintain their footing, barely finding a winning record. A rather slow early game ultimately lead to an explosive Dignitas victory.

Matthew “Akaadian” Higginbotham had another massively influential game on Diana. Playing a massive role in neutral objective fights, Dignitas managed to take a game off one of the ‘top’ teams. With Team Liquid failing to find any semblance of consistency, have the many roster changes irreversibly impacted the Team Liquid roster?

Are 100 Thieves still on top?

After losing to Cloud9, doubts swirled around 100 Thieves’ place at the top of the standings. Their victory against CLG that turned their weekend record to an equal 1-1 salvaged their reputation.

100 Thieves played this game on a knife’s edge. Though keeping a gold lead throughout the entire game, 100 Thieves barely managed to keep a kill advantage. 100 Thieves’ botlane once again was the deciding factor. When playing a standard composition, 100 Thieves appear unstoppable, but even now 100 Thieves still seem on unsteady footing.
