Is Clash coming to VALORANT?

Could we be seeing League of Legend’s Clash game mode come to VALORANT in the near future?

The upcoming VALORANT patch is bringing a plethora of changes to the base game. A new agent, as well as an ability and pricing overhaul will shake the meta to it’s core. One piece of news that only recently broke stands to bring an entirely new game mode into VALORANT’s fold. Though not coming with the new patch, VALORANT players can expect a ‘clash-like’ game mode in the future.

Riot Games’ Senior Competitive Designer for VALORANT, EvrMoar, announced that an “Act Based Tournament System” was in development. EvrMoar made a few specifications along with his post. Firstly, this game mode would play into a larger system as winners would be invited to an “End of Act” tournament. Second, teams would be able to change out players between games and max out team sizes at 7 total players.

It is also important to note that this game mode is still very much a work in progress with no set release date. The early bracket model shown certainly calls back to a similar game mode in Riot’s other masssive title, League of Legends. Introduced in 2017, this tournament style mode accessible ‘professional’ tournaments accessible for casual players. VALORANT’s clash system seems to be embracing this model but upping the stakes.

Countless times, Clash was postponed due to issues in implementations. We will have to see if this issue persists across titles.
