According to a report by Deadline, Amazon is reportedly interested in making a television series around the popular PlayStation franchise God of War and is currently in talks with Sony to make it happen. Leading up the project would be the creators of The Expanse, Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, alongside Rafe Judkins (The Wheel of Time, Uncharted), Sony Picture Television and PlayStation Productions.

Amazon Studios has been eying up and actually producing a lot of video game franchises recently, with Fallout and Mass Effect already being in the works, and the craze surrounding video game adaptations doesn’t seem to be slowing down just yet. Sony even pulled Uncharted to the big screen recently, albeit with middling reviews. Other companies are doing the same, as Paramount has announced a Halo television series a while back.
It’ll be interesting to see what direction they’ll take with God of War, which is one of the most beloved franchises to appear on PlayStation consoles. Chances are they’ll follow the most recent games a little more closely than the earlier ones. God of War Ragnarök is currently still in development and was delayed to 2022, presumably as a result of COVID-19 interfering with development.
