Interview with VS.stax: “I think the strongest region if you can say so is Vision Strikers”

The Korean Vision Strikers defeated EU representative Acend in their second match at VCT Masters Berlin and successfully qualified for not only the playoffs but also VALORANT Champions later this year.

We talked to Kim “stax” Gu-taek after their well-earned victory to talk about the match, the strength of the regions and more.

esports.com: Congratulations on the win. This seemed like a pretty easy match for you. What were your expectations for the match?

stax: So when we found out we were going to play against Acend, we were kind of more relaxed than we were when we played against Paper Rex.

esports.com: How did you prepare for the match against Acend?

I was very confident that we were going to win because I knew that the European teams will probably struggle to face off against my Breach. And we actually wanted to play them on Bind but during the map bans we realized they avoided playing against us on that map. so that is pretty much how we prepared for it.

There is a constant fight between many regions, especially EU and NA, but what region do you think is the strongest?

I think the strongest region if you can say so is Vision Strikers.

More VCT Masters: When and where to watch VCT Masters Berlin

After taking down Acend rather easily, which other teams do you think can be on the same level as you are and beat you?

If I had to say, I’d say Gambit. But the team I am really worried about is actually ourselves.

So Gambit is also the matchup you are looking forward to the most?

It is going to be a super fun game to watch if we face Gambit. Both mechanically and strategically. It will be like watching an episode of Naruto.

Community and casters called Vision Strikers scary and are already talking about your performance in the Playoffs. Is there still room for improvement and we will see even spicier games?

You can definitely look forward to our matches in the playoffs. Especially because we don’t have pre-set strategies but rather adapt to the game as we see it and read it. So teams that face us should be worried.
