PSG Talon’s Hanabi: “We could only practice for four days.”

We caught up with PSG.Talon’s Top Laner Hanabi after their defeat against Rogue in the opening match of their group stage. We briefly talked about their troubles preparing with stand-ins, the PCS and his own future.

PSG.Talon began their Worlds 2020 Group Stage poorly as Rogue ran all over them. Here is what Su “Hanabi” Chia-Hsiang had to say after the match.

esports.com: Thank you for taking your time to talk to us after the match. Unfortunately you just lost a rough match against Rogue. What was the main issue today?

Hanabi: I think we messed up during the draft. We thought too hard about it and got trapped.

esports.com: Group B does not get any easier after your first match. What are the things that you need to focus on right now?

Hanabi: Well we have to discuss more and put in even more effort to play at our best in the coming matches. We have also studied a lot of replays of our upcoming opponents.

Let’s talk a bit about your Play-Ins performance. You did really well with Kongyue and Uniboy during the Play-Ins. How difficult was it to prepare with stand-ins?

With Kongyue and Uniboy we could only practice for a week, after the Koreans returned we could only practice for four days, so it was quite hard. These shortcomings are hard to correct, but we put in a lot of effort and we will continue to do our best.

PSG Talon is representing the PCS region as scond seed. Last year there was still the LMS in which you played. What are the main differences between the two regions?

The main difference is obviously the addition of the South East Asian teams to the mix. Their playstyle and drafts are quite different to what we are used to, so we got to learn a lot and expand our horizons.

Previously the LMS had the problem that many distinguished players switched to stronger regions like the LPL for example. Do you think the PCS is better equipped to deal with that?

I think players will naturally move to stronger regions, so a dip in quality is inevitable.

Do you think there are ways to counter that trend?

Personally I think it is hard to avoid, everyone does it.

In recent years you have become something of a fixture in international competitions between the regions. Would you also be willing to move regions like other stronger players from Taiwan?

I think I am not at that level yet. But if the chance comes I would take it and put in all the effort to prove myself.

Thank you very much and good luck in your future matches.

Thank you.
