IEM Katowice 2022 – Everything you need to know

Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Katowice are about to kick off. 24 top CS:GO teams will clash in the polish city for the championship. We got everything you need to know for the first big LAN of the CS:GO year.

The Spodek Arena will once again host the CS:GO elite to show off their strengths before the Antwerp Major in May. With a million US-Dollars on the line for a LAN tournament in front of a live audience Katowice is promising to be a feast for fans.

IEM Katowice 2022 Schedule & Format

IEM Katowice 2022 will last two weeks spanning from Play-In to Playoffs. The Play-Ins will distribute the last eight spots for the group stage at Katowice. The 16 teams will then be cut down further to 6 during the groups before these finally clash in the playoffs, culminating in the Grand Final on February 27.

  • Play-In: February 15-16
  • Group Stage: February 17-20
  • Playoffs: February 25-27

In the Play-In stage teams will first face off in a Best-of-One before going into Best-of-Threes. The top 8 of the Play-Ins advance to the group stage to meet the eight previously qualified teams. These will determine the final six in GSL double elimination groups.

IEM Katowice 2022 Playoffs

Playoffs will be seeded according to the group stage earlier. The group winners will advance immediately to the semi-finals, while the runner-ups and third-place teams have to face off first before making it there. All playoff matches are Best-of-Threes with the exception of the Grand Finals, which will be a Best-of-Five. The champions will take home 400,000$ as grand prize.

24 Teams challenge for the title

In order to secure the lion’s share of the one million dollar on the line the teams need to defeat all other challengers including the world’s best teams.
