How to win more gunfights in Apex Legends

Apex Legends is a fast-paced, intriguing, and most importantly, free battle royale that has captured the hearts of thousands of players.

And no matter how good you are, there are always ways to improve your aim, situational awareness, and game sense! In this article, I’ll give you some tips to win more gunfights and climb to a higher rank in no time.

Warm up, seriously

No, I’m not telling you to warm up two hours before your session with an aim trainer, but spending some time in the firing range warming up your movement and aim will help out tremendously during those first couple of games.

Pick your fights

Not all fights are created equal. Unless you’re at the apex of competitors, you won’t one-clip your opponents very often. Therefore, it’s very important to develop the awareness which fights favor you to win. It’s very tempting to try and hit those juicy 400m sniper shots, but you’ll almost never one-shot an opponent.

What you’re doing is screaming your position to all the remaining teams, without finding any advantage to you or your team.

So don’t engage every opponent you see, and set up your team for victory by learning what fights are favorable, and what fights are undesirable.

Being third isn’t always a bad thing

If two teams are fighting, and one comes out victoriously, a good strategy is to immediately attack the team that now has had no time to heal. An incredible annoying tactic if you’re the team getting third-partied, but an effective way to get that extra RP!

Position, position, position

Positioning is key during any fight. Stay in one place for too long, and you’re asking for a swift squad wipe. If you’re in a firefight, and you come out on top, reposition when your opponent is hiding to heal. If you coordinate with your team, you can safely pinch the enemy team, and not give them the time to fully heal. Trust your teammates to finish the job you started and heal yourself. That way you’re ready when the next fight breaks out.
