How sniper damage is calculated in Warzone

In Call of Duty Warzone, sniping is one of the strongest strategies in the game. Snipers can deal massive damage from a distance, but calculating their damage can be quite complex. Of course every sniper rifle has different damage stats, but distance and shot placement can drastically change damage distribution. Though not a true sniper, the FAL provides a great example of how damage can change between distance and location.

All the following numbers will be taken without any attachments and only using the weapon’s base damage. Hot shots at any distance deal the most damage from virtually all weapons in Warzone. At the 20m/40m/60m+ range, the FAL does 100/92/42 headshot damage. Though headshots will always deal the most damage, there is some significant fall off as the distance grows.

Torso shots deal the second most damage at any range. Given that the chest is the easiest place to hit, this is more practical at longer ranges despite dealing less damage. Using the same ranges and base weapon damage, the FAL deals 58/45/28 damage to chests. Though this is a far cry from headshots, it is still significant.

The stomach is an interesting area. At the high and lower end of the spectrum, stomach shots deal the same damage for chest, however at midrange stomach shots deal 10 less damage on the un-augmented FAL and many other weapons. Limbs (arms/legs) deal the least damage at all ranges. This is great for tagging enemies but rarely results in kills either from a distance or up close.
