Honda makes memorable debut for FURIA at BLAST Premier Global Finals 2020

Yesterday we saw the first two matches of the BLAST Premier Global Finals 2020 play out as Astralis took on Evil Geniuses and G2 Esports played FURIA. Especially FURIA’s new player Lucas “honda” Honda came to play in his debut match but would go on to lose against G2 Esports.

In the first map (Inferno) of the series against G2 Esports, honda showed why he’s a force to be reckoned with. He was able to hold off the full G2 Esports squad by himself with the Deagle in hand, scoring an unbelievable ace. Honda wasn’t done however, as he pulled off another ace just two rounds later and once more on Nuke. FURIA would still go on to lose Inferno 16-12 however, before picking up a win on Mirage. The series eventually went to G2 Esports following a 16-10 scoreline on Nuke, sending FURIA to the lower bracket.

In the lower bracket FURIA will meet Evil Geniuses, who started out strong against Astralis with a 16-14 win on Inferno, before crashing on Overpass and Vertigo with 16-8 and 16-6 numbers respectively. Astralis will go on to meet G2 Esports in the Upper Bracket semifinals.

Today Team Vitality, who are tipped as one of the favorites for the tournament, take on Complexity, followed by a match between Natus Vincere and Team Liquid. The BLAST Pro Series Global Finals runs until January 24 and features a 1 million dollars prize pool. The tournament is being played online due to the current pandemic.
