Heroic edge out a victory over Gambit, crown themselves as the EPL champions

Heroic lift their first trophy with this new and improved roster by defeating Gambit.

Game one on Inferno set the tone of this series early, starting with an OT win for Heroic on their map pick. Heroic had a less than stellar start though, ending their T-side at an 11-4 deficit. Dmitry “sh1ro” Sokolov, IEM Katowice MVP making a case for himself once again, gave his best efforts to keep Heroic behind, finishing with 32 kills.

Heroic resurged however, fighting back to gain a lead in the 29th round however dropping the final round of regular time to push it into OT. Though not lasting long, Heroic quickly gained an early 1-0 start.

Gambit answered back with the most decisive game of the series on their pick of Vertigo. All 3 of Heroic’s round wins coming in CT-side. Aside from these outliers, Gambit absolutely rolled this map over. Abay “Hobbit” Khasenov took the reins this time with 21 total frags in this blowout victory.

Following a common theme in Heroic’s wins this series, the Danish organization responded by taking a 26-28 win over Gambit on Train. Another consistent theme, Heroic trailed in the first half, Sh1ro once again dominating the half.

Avoiding a narrow regulation loss, Gambit once again pushed the game into overtime where the tight contest continued, eventually falling to Heroic’s favor. Casper “cadiaN” had his first, though certainly not last, impactful map of the series, ending with 84 ADR and 38 kills on the AWP alone.

Overpass saw Gambit recover nicely, winning with a comfortable 16-10 lead. Despite recent addition Ismail “refrezh” Ali’s best efforts, Gambit ballooned their marginal 8-7 lead at the half into another dominant addition to their win column.

The final map, Mirage, saw Heroic in perhaps their best form yet. Resurging at the right time, Heroic left CT-side with a 2-13 lead. Though Gambit started to form somewhat of a comeback, CadiaN pulled off one of the greatest 1v4 clutches in CS:GO history to end the game and crown themselves EPL champions.

With 88 total AWP kills and 26 first bloods, CadiaN may not have had the most frags but had one of the most memorable performances of any player in recent memory. Heroic made CS:GO history and claimed their first title with this new roster.
