Has Fnatic come back stronger after their roleswap?

The second week of the LEC has concluded, with two familiar faces returning to former glory.

Last Split broke the two horse race that had seemingly run the LEC for the past four splits. Both G2 and Fnatic were dethroned by the young squads of MAD Lions and Rogue. This week, it seems that the old favorites have inched back into the top of the standings.

Are Fnatic stronger than ever?

Fnatic successfully completed their first 2-0 week of the Summer Split with their wins coming over Vitality and Excel. In their first game, Fnatic’s botlane shined as Elias “Upset” Lipp continued to make a case for being the current best ADC in the LEC. The topside of the map however proved to be the prime win condition for Fnatic against Excel.

After an initial struggle in week one, it seems that both Adam “Adam”  Maanane and Gabriel “Bwipo” Rau have adjusted to their newfound positions on the roster. Adam has perhaps been the biggest surprise of the season, standing toe-to-toe with some of the most established toplaners in the LEC. Only behind HiRit in total kills among toplaners, Adam has proven he was quite worthy of making jump from ERLs to the European main stage.

G2 win out in a semi-finals rematch

After building a star-studded, ‘superteam’ over the offseason, G2 found an ultimately disappointing third place finish. At the hands of Rogue, G2 were denied a fifth straight finals appearance and single-handedly broke their long reign over the LEC. Today, G2 took their revenge by striking first blood against Rogue.

The game was defined by botlane proactivity, as both Martin “Rekkles” Larssen and Steven “Hans Sama” Liv attracted early skirmish attention. The game was largely played on a razor’s edge, G2 not gaining a firm gold lead until Rekkles’ miraculous barons steal. Similar to Fnatic, G2 ended their week with a 2-0 record.
