Golden Guardians have pulled a big upset in the LCS playoffs by defeating TSM with big 3-0 numbers in a best-of-five series. Can they reach even higher in the upcoming matches and will TSM be able to recover?
The end result wasn’t expected at all as TSM has played relatively well over the past few weeks, improving as the playoffs approached. Even some good performances by TSM star mid laner Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and top laner Sergen “Broken Blade” Çelik weren’t enough to save their hides, with bot laner Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng having a particularly rough night on his signature Caitlyn.

Golden Guardians however played a strong series, led by bot laner Victor “FBI” Huang who was also chosen as the series MVP. He consistently got the Golden Guardians bot lane ahead with help of jungler Spica, who looked great on his Sett and Graves picks, and basically nullified the impact of the TSM bot lane.
TSM has now been sent to the losers bracket, where they’ll face Dignitas next. Golden Guardians on the other hand will continue their run in the upper bracket where they’ll either face Team Liquid or Cloud9. Will we see Golden Guardians fight for a spot in Worlds (or the play-in) or was this result just a fluke?
