Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless

Just judging the headset by its name “Virtuoso” you would expect phenomenal sound. And in that department the Corsair headset is doing well. With two 50 milimeter Neodym Drivers the Virtuoso RGB Wireless offers dynamic and balanced sound. The microphone is also Discord-certified, has great quality and can even be detached if necessary.

The lightweight aluminium headband offers high stability and also comfort through the memory foam earpads. You need to slightly take more care with the earbuds as the nice-looking design is a bit prone to scratches.

Wireless, USB or 3.5mm connection

You can hook up your Virtuoso RGB Wireless to PC and console through 3 different ways. Either with the wireless Slipstream connection that has a range of 18 meters or the two wired connections: USB (which enables Hi-Res audio too) and 3.5mm. In wireless mode the battery lasts up to 20 hours.

Strengths

  • High comfort
  • Excellent 7.1 sound
  • Hi-Res Audio over USB

HyperX Cloud Stinger Core Wireless

The HyperX Cloud Stinger Core Wireless is a great budget Wireless Gaming Headset for $80 Dollars. Two 40mm drivers are responsible for solid but not outstanding stereo sound. If you want the absolute premium that is not enough, but for many cases it is more than sufficient. Audio is only received through the wireless connection so you have no way to hook it up to your PC or console through USB or other methods. You can charge it through a short USB-C cable and the battery will serve you for up to 17 hours.

Simple but comfortable budget headset

Very lightweight at 240g the HyperX Cloud Stinger Core Wireless is without fancy decor like LED Lighting. But that does not mean it is uncomfortable. With metal sliders you can adjust the headband until it fits. The microphone cannot be detached or muted separately but you can deactivate it by pushing it away to the side.

Strengths

  • Affordable
  • Very light (244 Gram)
  • Comfortable

The headset also has stylish LED stripes on the earbuds and you can even replace the headband for a more coloful one if you want to. The 16.7 million different colors of the LEDs can be adjusted alongside the sound options in the G HUB software.

The entire headset remains lightweight despite all the extras at 280 gram and sits comfortably even during long gaming sessions. You can charge the Logitech G733 via USB and it has a runtime of up to 20 hours.

Trumpcard DTS Headphone:X 2.0

The 40mm drivers of the G733 are great throughout gaming or listening to music and offer harmonic and strong audio. The microphone is unfortunately a bit of a weak link compared against the sound as the quality output is only average.

Strengths

  • Fair pricing
  • High comfort
  • Excellent 7.1 sound
  • Exchangeable headband
  • Very light (278 gram)

Weaknesses

  • Average microphone

Razer BlackShark V2 Pro

Looking for a high quality light-weight headset? Razer’s BlackShark V2 Pro is only 320 gram light and offers breathable weave on the ear cushions. Which makes them not just comfortable but also minimizes sweat and heat build-up during long sessions. With an additional 3.5mm jack you can also use it for consoles or your mobile.

Long battery life

The BlackShark V2 Pro uses a 2.4GHz wireless connection with up to 24 hours of runtime before you need to recharge it. Unfortunately you need to check the Synapse software from Razer to check the current charge level instead of seeing it intuitively.

The BlackShark V2 Pro employs 50mm titan drivers that produce a strong audio experience. You can boost that even further with the THX Spatial Audio technology that creates a 7.1 surround sound. • Very good microphone
  • Long battery life
  • 3.5mm jack

Weaknesses

  • Charge levels only accessible through software

SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless

Our most expensive recommendation is the SteelSeries Arctis Pro Wireless. But the price tag of $350 Dollars is well justified. Your purchase includes an additional battery that you can charge up while you are using the other one, ensuring that you will never have to put the headset aside for charging.

External transmitter

The extra battery is charged on the external transmitter included with the Arctis Pro Wireless. The transmitter base station can not only connect to PC or console but also via bluetooth or cable to your mobile.

The simple design is extremely comfortable and looks high-class to boot. The ear cushions can also be detached and washed separately if necessary. • High comfort
  • Excellent 7.1 sound
  • Multiple jacks and connections available
  • Washable ear cushions

Weaknesses

  • High price tag
  • Ears can build up heat over long sessions
  • Microphone is not detachable

Choosing your Wireless Gaming Headset

When shopping for a wireless gaming headset there are several things you need to watch out for. Here are the most important factors when deciding on your headset:

  • Connection and range: Wireless headsets have different modes of connection. Either Bluetooth or radio. Bluetooth is much more common and compatible with other devices (such as your mobile) but have shorter range. Radio connections usually need an additional USB adapter but offer superior range and quality. Some headsets also offer a wired connection through USB or 3.5mm jacks.
  • Battery life: Wireless headsets require batteries to keep running. Most models offer more than 10 hours of runtime and can be charged rather quickly. Recharging is mostly done through USB and should not take longer than an hour. Premium models like the SteelSeries Arctis Pro come with an additional battery so you don’t need to stop using the headset due to running out of juice.
  • Ergonomics: A headset could have the best features and looks, but in the end it all comes down to how well it fits. If it is uncomfortable or sits loosely you should look for another model.
  • Controls: Ideally a headset should be quick and easy to configurate, even during play. It helps a lot if the device in question has buttons for muting the microphone or volume control right on the headset. If you also use it to listen to music or do not always need the microphone it can also be useful to have a detachable mic or at least adjustable.
  • Microphone: Communication is of course key in many games. A good headset should be clear in voice transmission and ideally also offer noise cancellation to support clear-cut comms during the game.
  • Surround or Stereo? Good Audio is of course a must. But for competitive players you might have to look for surround sound headsets. Especially when playing shooters the audio can give you important cues to help locate your opponents. If you are focused on 2D games that do not need environmental sounds you can stick to Stereo. Surround sound headsets usually also have an on-board sound card, which produces better audio than the standard PC or console sound card. Some also offer equalizers or other additional functions.
