AS Monaco, one of the biggest football clubs in France, has decided to partner with Gambit Esports with a focus on their Dota 2 and Fortnite teams.
The partnership means that AS Monaco takes yet another step into the esports sphere as the Gambit Esports Dota 2 and Fortnite teams will now play under the AS Monaco – Gambit Esports (ASM.GMB) banner. Alongside a change in naming, the players will also be wearing the colors and jersey of AS Monaco during and at further events. We’ve seen football clubs venture into esports before, but AS Monaco marks the first big jump from a football club into Fortnite.

AS Monaco and Gambit Esports put out a statement on the partnership, where AS Monaco’s General Manager Oleg Petrov talks about expanding the market. “Creations of AS Monaco Gambit will allow us to make a new step in a rapidly growing market by joining forces with a strong player at the international esports arena. This union is beneficial from two points of view: it will allow us to connect with a young audience to support the club’s internalization strategy by developing our presence in key territories.”
To announce the partnership Gambit Esports posted a video showcasing the AS Monaco x Gambit Esports clothing and announcing that their Fortnite and Dota 2 teams will be renamed to AS Monaco Gambit. They also said there’ll be some more updates and announcements coming soon.
