G2 hires Dylan Falco as its Head Coach

G2 Esports announced via Twitter that Dylan Falco is set to spearhead its 2022 LEC Spring Split. Falco has coached professionally in League of Legends esports for over seven years in both North America and Europe. Falco is coming off of his most recent three year tenure with Schalke 04.

The German organization now set to leave the LEC, Falco helped lead the team to a LEC finals appearance and the famous miracle run in 2019. Falco joins G2 alongside Rodrigo, who will lead as the head analyst.

G2 has offloaded its entire 2021 coaching and analyst staff as both Grabbz and Nelson have left the team. After leading the team to four domestic titles, an MSI Championship, and a World Finals appearance, Grabbz has left to coach a team of primarily rookies in BDS. Nelson has not announced whether or not he will work with a team for the 2022 season as of yet.

G2’s coaching moves are apart of its overarching rebuild triggered by the team’s disappointing 2021 season. Keeping only the jungler and middle lane duo of Caps and Jankos, every other position has been swapped out. Former Schalke 04 toplaner Broken Blade is expected to join his former coach on this new iteration of G2 Esports.

Though unconfirmed, former MAD Lions ADC and Karmine Corp support, Flakked and Targamas are expected to join the roster as well to round out the 2022 roster. With most of the pieces set and contracts beginning to be published, its seems that G2 Esports 2022 team is becoming more clear every day.
