G2 Esports reveals 2022 LEC roster

G2 Esports announced via Twitter the five starting players for the 2022 LEC Spring Split. The team will include Broken Blade, Jankos, Caps, Flakked, and Targamas. This comes only a day after Dylan Falco was named the team’s Head Coach.

The video featured Jankos and Caps, the only two returning players from the previous season, as they set the 2022 roster. Shortly following the end of the Summer Split, G2 Esports quickly offloaded Wunder, Rekkles, and Mikyx as well as the team’s coaching staff.

Broken Blade is coming to the team after his most recent split with Schalke 04. While the team resurged for the later half of the Spring Split, sudden roster changes left Schalke near the bottom of the LEC standings. Still, Broken Blade in both EU and NA has continued to be a standout performer in the toplane.

The bottom lane is now entirely comprised of former ERL players making their debut in the LEC. Flakked is coming off of his season with MAD Lions Madrid. The Spanish ADC found only middling results in the LVP though hopes to break out on G2 Esports. Targamas is notably coming from an incredibly successful season on Karmine Corp. The French team dominated domestically and won two EU Masters titles, with no small part thanks to Targamas.

As a part of the roster that helped G2 reach World Finals and win an MSI trophy, Caps and Jankos are remaining with the team. Now surrounded by relative rookies, the two veteran players are looking to strike back in 2022.
