FunPlus Phoenix and ChrisJ part ways, suNny joins as a stand-in

Following negotiations falling through between FunPlus Phoenix and Chris “ChrisJ” de Jong, the organization decided to go a different way.

ChrisJ joined FunPlus Phoenix as a loan player, but that loan has now come to an end according to the organization themselves. This left FunPlus Phoenix one player short for the upcoming ESL Pro League Season 13, which led to them picking up Finnish player Miikka “SuNny” Kemppi. The GM of FPX, Petar Markovic, spoke about ChrisJ leaving the team on Twitter. “Unfortunately, we could not make a mutual agreement with chrisJ that works for both parties on time, and that’s why we have decided to try out another player.”

SunNy had been on the inactive players list for ENCE since the end of 2020, with the organization finally deciding to let him go on February 19. he’ll be looking to relaunch his career over at FunPlus Phoenix. For ChrisJ it’ll be a return to the bench over at mousesports, who decided on the loan move as they overhauled their own CS:GO roster.

It’ll be interesting to see how FunPlus Phoenix squares up with a new member among them. During their time with ChrisJ they went on to finish in second place at DreamHack Open January 2021: Europe, only falling in the finals to an in-form Team Spirit.
