Fnatic becomes the first team to Qualify for VCT Champions Playoffs

Fnatic has become the first team to qualify for the VCT Champions Playoffs after defeating Vision Strikers. The European team win out over both Cloud9 and Vision Strikes in 2-1 series to qualify through the upper bracket.

Fnatic began their qualifying series against Vision Strikers with a 10-13 win on Icebox. While Fnatic pulled away early, a resurgence by the South Korean representatives brought the first map to a dead even by the end of the first half. Derke’s ever reliable play on Jett closed the gap on attacker side however, as he found 24 total kills to close out the game.

On VS’ map pick, Haven, the two teams were once again locked in a 6-6 tie going into the second half. This time, Vision Strikers were the ones to win out as Stax and MaKo lead the squad an equal 1-1 series.

VALORANT’s newest map, Fracture, crowned Fnatic as the winners. Off of his signature Jett and onto another duelist in Raze, Derke once again topfragged to claim Fnatic a dominant lead. 9-3 by the first half’s close, Fnatic managed to maintain their momentum to a 13-6 win.

With Fnatic claiming the first spot, only seven qualifying positions remain in the VCT Champions Playoffs. Vision Strikers will now await the winners of Full Sense and Cloud9 to see who will be the second team to qualify from Group D.

Tomorrow, the next three qualifiers will be decided as three matches will determine playoff contenders. Envy vs Vivo Keyd, Team Liquid vs Sentinels, and Gambit vs Team Vikings will all send one more team to playoffs.
