Female Call of Duty: Mobile player murdered by fellow Brazilian player

Female Call of Duty: Mobile player Ingrid “Sol” Oliveira Bueno da Silva was murdered by fellow player Guilherme “Flashlight” Alves Costa.

Both Oliveira Bueno da Silva and Alves Costa reportedly met online while playing the game, as the former’s body was found yesterday in the house of Alves Costa. The Brazilian would allow himself to be detained by the police, confessing to the murder shortly after and stating he “wanted to do this”, planning out the murder in a notebook. According to Alves Costa, the murder was premeditated and following his actions, he went on to post pictures of her body in WhatsApp messages along with recordings.

The murder sends a shockwave not only through the Brazilian community but throughout the esports scene as a whole. Bueno Da Silva was 19 years old and only recently started playing the game competitively as an up-and-coming talent, entering multiple events that were mostly hosted by Battle Girls, which created the Support BG Project to create a safe space for women in esports. She’d go on to play for FBI Esports.

On Twitter players are mourning the loss, as well as the organization Gamers Elite Clan. In a statement they went on to talk about the murder and expressed their grief. Jaguares Esports also released a statement, wishing strength and offering condolences to the family of Oliveira da Silva, while hoping Alves Costa is brought to justice.
