FaZe Clan has announced a new VALORANT Invitational, as part of the larger Ignition Series that has been going on the last few months. VALORANT, since its recent release, has seen a great variety of teams and organisations move into the game with varying success.
The tournament, hosted in partnership with Riot Games, is part of the official VALORANT Ignition Series. The Ignition series is the first ever official tournament series for VALORANT. The tournament itself will take place the weekend of August 6th. There will a double elimination group stage on the Thursday and Friday, featuring 2 groups of 4 teams.

While the current participants are still unknown, we do know that there will be 12 teams that will directly be invited based on previous tournament performance, while there are 4 spots for the open qualifier teams. VALORANT has mostly seen invitation based tournaments, with few or no spots for open qualifications. This FaZe tournament is no exception. One could argue that for the scene as a whole, a move to a more open structure could benefit up and coming players. However, with teams such as Sentinels, C9, 100 Thieves and TSM expected to attend again, the viewer numbers are at least guaranteed.
