Everything you need to know about Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3

New weapons, vehicles, heroes and missions – season 3 is filled to the brim with new content. We’ve got the most important changes for you.

Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 3 “Splash Down” is now live on servers and the new season started by flooding the entire map with DC Comics’ Aquaman reigning over the waves.

Aquaman and his crew

In addition to the super hero the new season has also brough plenty of new characters and skins to unlock and collect. Eight new heroes have been added to the game, it is unknown if other characters like chief spy Midas will also appear regularily in “Splash Down”.
Each character has two styles that can be unlocked by fulfilling missions and leveling the Battle Pass. Only Aquaman has an additional outfit. Here is a list of all the new heroes:

  • Siona – A wanderer in a lost world.
  • Jules – Engineering perfection with a mysterious twist.
  • Aquaman – The undisputed king of the seas.
  • Scuba Jonesy – Jonesy of the deep!
  • Eternal Knight – Honor shines eternal.
  • Ocean – The fight’s not over until I say so.
  • Fade – Far from home the journey must continue
  • Kit – Proudly following in his father’s pawprints

More missions and challenges

On the image of the crew the blue table is of particular interest. You can find additional challenges there, which will give you more progress on characters and story besides the general weekly missions.

Create your own glider

Last season Epic Games introduced customisation ot the game via Agent Maya for the first time. Player could freely pick between hairstyles and outfit for Maya. For Season 3 Epic has again brought customisation to the table. You will be able to fully customize your own glider. Progressing in the Battle Pass will also unlock more pieces and colors for your own design.

On a flooded isle mobility is king

Season 3 introduces two new vehicles to Fortnite for rotating quickly.

Sharks: As can be seen in the trailer sharks now roam the deeps around the flooded isle. However there is no need to fret. You can use your fishing rod to turn them into your vehicle for jet-skiing. If you stray too close to them they will try to bite you though, so keep your distance.

Cars: The other addition to vehicles are cars. As the flooded parts of the island vary with the changing of the tides, you can use the new cars to drive quickly across prior flooded areas on the isle.

Fight with fireflies and other new weaponry

As usual Epic has also removed several weapons and replaced them with new equipment. One of the new pieces of gear is the mythical “Bottomless Chug Jug” that will be dropped by the new boss “Ocean”. It restores health and shields to full and can be used multiple times.

You can see all the weapons in the following video:

The other highlight of Season 3 is of course the introduction of Aquaman to the isle. You can read all about his special challenges here:

Careful when playing with fire

With all the new features and flooded areas of the map stealing the attention away, many players might have missed another key change: Buildings can actually burn down.

Especially considering late game Box Fights with limited space players now have to keep a new threat in mind. Unless they want to see their chances of victory turn to ashes. We are curious which new tactics and strategies might develop with this change.
