Everything we know about the new VALORANT map: Fracture

While multiple leakers thought they figured out the new VALORANT map was called Canyon, Riot Games stepped out of the dark and announced the seventh map in their shooter will be called Fracture and also released a trailer.

Fracture has very interesting and varying landscapes, giving attackers and defenders probably a lot of different ways to approach the game. The layout of the map is similir to an H-shape, which allows teams to pinch the enemy. The map also provides some storytelling, which contributes to the lore behind VALORANT.

Fracture is expected to join the map pool in VALORANT Episode 3 Act 2, with patch 3.05 on September 8th.

ORIGINAL REPORT:

It’s that time of the year again, a new VALORANT map is coming. Although Riot Games didn’t tell us any details yet, leaks are already all over the internet and give us a sneak peak of the new map: Canyon.

Canyon is the seventh map in VALORANT, after map number six (Breeze) got released in April 2021, which was Episode 2 Act 3. Multiple leakers report players won’t have to wait much until a new playing field will be release, because Canyon should be coming very soon.

Riot Games teases Canyon?

There was also some teases from Riot Games itself though. On August 23rd the developer posted an image on Twitter, with the caption ‘Decode this.’. On the image itself were some words in different languages. The one in the biggest font read ‘ENTZWEITE WEITEN’ which means ‘divided expanses’ in German. The other ones are ‘futuros revelados’, which is ‘revealed futures’ in Portugese, and a Chinese text which says ‘kingdom’ and ‘disintegrate’.

The tease also shows some images of different parts of the map, inclusing a mysterious looking blue object, which looks like a machine of some kind.

Secondly Riot Games posted a GIF on August 31st, showing the aftermath of a reactor explosion. This image itself is really unclear and doesn’t show anything actually, but it’s safe to assume this also has to do with the upcoming new map.

As stated earlier, there are no officiel details about the new map yet, but based on the teaser from the Battle Pass, it seems like the rumors about Canyon are true. One picture shows some buildings on top of a mountain and the other one show a road in a canyon-like environment. The images look nothing like anything we have seen before in VALORANT, which feeds the rumors that this could be the next map.

Canyon release date

Although Canyon does not have an officiel release date yet, we expect the new map to arrive at VALORANT in Episode 3 Act 2 or Act 3. Act 1 will end at September 8, which means Act 2 will start right after. Previous new maps always dropped on the day a new Act started, but we don’t know yet if this will be Act 2 or Act 3.
