Format
Group Phase
Groups are played out in a round robin format. Each match is a Best-of-3. Depending on participants in the regional leagues the structures differ slightly. Leagues with four teams (NA, SA, SEA) eliminate last place after the round robin. In China the bottom two teams are eliminated.
In Europe the 16 teams are spread evenly in two groups, which play out in a Best-of-3 round robin. The bottom two of each group will be eliminated.
Playoffs:
In the leagues with only four participants (NA, SA, SEA), best team after the groups qualifies directly to the Best-of-5 Finals. Second and third place play a Best-of-3 to determine the challenger.
The Chinese league features a Double Elimination Bracket. The two best teams start seeded into the Winner’s Finals, while the third and fourth place of the groups start in the lower bracket. The Finals are a Best-of-5.
The European region uses a similar format, expanded to eight teams. First and second place of each group will face off in the Winner’s Bracket, while teams ranked third and fourth start in the lower bracket. The Grand Finals will once again be Best-of-5.
