es3tag makes move from Astralis to Cloud9

Cloud9 has made yet another big move to now make its CS:GO roster complete. Patrick “es3tag” Hansen will transfer over from Astralis to the North American organization. Both Astralis and Cloud9 have agreed to not publicly discuss the financial details of the deal itself, something Cloud9 has done for previous signings.

Es3tag has only been with Astralis for a couple months, arriving from Heroic in July. The Dane has stepped up for Astralis in the short time he was with them, helping them win the ESL Pro League Season 12 as they beat Natus Vincere 3-2 in the Grand Final after making a lower bracket run where they defeated teams such as mousesports and Heroic. Es3tag will join Cloud9 when DreamHack Open Fall has concluded.

Astralis released a blog post discussing the transfer where es3tag talks about the move. “what Cloud9 is offering me is something I needed to consider seriously. I love the ideas behind the project, and I believe it will be a team to consider in the top of CS for the years to come. While I am sad to leave Astralis and all the people here, I look forward to the challenge in Cloud9.“

Kasper Hvidt, the Director of Sports at Astralis Group, spoke about how this transfer will affect the Astralis roster. “The transfer leaves an open spot but having Andreas “Xyp9x” back leaves us with 6 of the best players in the world. Having worked and gained a lot of experience with a 6-man set-up, it is obvious that this is something Danny, our coach, is comfortable with, and we are in no rush to increase the roster short term.”
