Elden Ring Class Overview – Astrologer

You can take your pick from ten different classes in Elden Ring to start your journey in the Lands Between. The Astrologer is your class of choice if you prefer spellcasters over physical fighters.

Ranged Spellcaster

The Astrologer is well-equipped for all spellcasting players as he begins with the highest Intelligence stat among all the classes. That is one of the most important stats for casters in Elden Ring as it increases the damage of your spells as well as allowing you to access better and stronger casts. Your other standout stat is Mind at 15. Mind boosts your Focus Points (FP), which in turn allow you to unleash more spells.

The Astrologer is a ranged class stereotype with strong spells in his arsenal to defeat his opponents. He starts with a staff and two spells learned. Especially Glintstone Pebble is a very handy spell as it can be used in quick succession for a solid amount of damage. But you should always take a secondary weapon with you for emergencies.

Once you have exhausted your mana pool you do need a different way to defeat opponents. Since your stats should be channeled into the spellcasting stats you should take a Dexterity-based weapon as secondary. Thrusting swords such as Estocs or Rapiers are great choices as they do not need too many stats to wield.

The initial levels can be difficult as Astrologer as you only have limited spells and a low FP pool. You also do not have the flasks to replenish your mana that early. But once you make it over the hump, Astrologers shine in later stages of the game, when you can unleash havoc and destruction with your casts.
