A new organization under the name of Dota Valkyries enters the scene, looking to inspire and support women within competitive Dota 2.
Dota Valkyries is a new organization founded by Ruby and Emma “Catfish” Brown, who aim to make Dota 2 a more accessible and friendly environment for female players. Ruby talked about the project in a tweet. “So excited (and nervous) to finally be launching Dota Valkyries. I’ve been working on this for a few months now with the amazing Catfish and i’m incredibly excited to see what good we can do to improve things for women in the Dota scene.

On the Twitter account of the new organization a statement was posted about the goals of Dota Valkyries. “This organization has the goal to support women in the Dota scene. From pro level to the most casual player, we hope to inspire women and girls from outside the scene to join our community and to play Dota for perhaps the first time. We hope to one day help to elevate a woman all the way onto the TI main stage, as a player.”
Dota 2 is a game that’s notorious for being difficult to get into and with a player base consisting of mostly male players, it can be daunting for female newcomers and veterans alike. Dota Valkyries might provide the support needed for those women.
