Doinb talks about LCS performance at Worlds following Bjergsen retirement

Kim “Doinb” Tae-sang, who won Worlds in 2019 as the mid laner of FunPlus Phoenix, talked about the shortcomings and weaknesses of the LCS compared to other leagues. His comments were a result of finding out that TSM mid laner Bjergsen would retire as a player to become the head coach of the team.

After complimenting Bjergsen on his career and talking about his retirement, Doinb says that older players retiring might be good for the LCS as it opens up room for more rookies to enter the main stage. “It’s always the same players from NA with players just jumping teams year after year. Rookies never get a chance to play pro games. They then make Worlds and underperform because of this.”

Doinb compares this to the massive amount of rookies that show up year after year in other leagues. “I mentioned the LCK and LPL have rookies every year. Look at players such as Bin, Huanfeng, Jackeylove,Knight, Tarzan, Kanavi, they’re all fresh rookies.”

According to Doinb, laning against younger players and rookies keeps the older players sharp. “LCS Players are in their 20’s, our players are 17, 18, 19. That’s why we are better in lane than LCS players. We practice laning against teenagers. Young players specialize in mechanics, they don’t play for the macro game.”
