Reddit user Bitfiddler posted a story to Reddit where he talks about receiving his Steam Deck early, claiming that it was hand-delivered by Gabe Newell himself. According to his story, he got a ‘dodgy’ email claiming his Steam Deck to be delivered early, which he mostly ignored, only to have Gabe Newell show up at his door with a camera crew while he wasn’t home.
He also added a picture of the experience taken from his front door camera. “Gabe was a super cool and down to earth guy though. He said to email him if she has any feedback (to which my wife replied “OK, but what’s your name again?),” Bitfiddler says. “Anyway, excuse me while I go bang my head against a wall for missing this whole experience”.
This isn’t the only story like this that has been popping up, as multiple people have claimed on Reddit that the same thing happened to them. The Steam Deck has begun shipping last week after being officially announced back in July of 2021. It’s a handheld device that’s able to play Steam games through SteamOS, but is also supposed to be a PC that can be modified to run other software as well.
