DAMWON Gaming signs kkOma as head coach, Zefa and Daeny leave for T1

Despite winning League of Legends Worlds 2020, DAMWON Gaming has decided to shake up their coaching staff. They’ve signed Kim “kkOma” Jeong-gyun as their head coach going into the 2021 season, while their current coaches Lee “Zefa” Jae-min and Yang “Daeny” Dae-in leave for T1 as coach and head coach respectively.

New head coach kkOma was part of the ever dominant SKT team until 2019, when he went to coach Vici Gaming in the LPL. There he wasn’t able to really stand out with the team with results that went mostly up and down. DAMWON Gaming is still convinced that signing kkOma was the best option for their organization, asking fans on Twitter to place their trust in him going forward.

With the signing of Daeny and Zefa, T1 finally closes the book on a turbulent chapter. The organization faced a lot of backlash from fans after strong rumors surfaced that Choi “Polt” Seong Hun and Nick “LS” De Cesare would join as head coach and coach respectively. The organization has therefore seemingly opted for a different route for their coaching staff, with Polt still joining as a general manager.

Over at T1 Daeny and Zefa will swap roles, where the former will serve as head coach while Zefa will take on a coaching position. Daeny: “I’m happy to take on the challenge of reconstructing the T1 dynasty. I would like to thank DAMWON who respected my choice and, as there are high expectations for the team and fans, I’ll lead the team to better results.”
