DAMWON Gaming signs Khan as their new Top Laner

Interesting times for the LCK, where current World champion DAMWON Gaming has signed Kim “Khan ” Dong-ha as their new top laner. Khan is one of the most experienced top laners around, having previously played for SK Telecom T1 and FunPlus Phoenix.

Things went relatively well for Khan during his time with SKT, winning the LCK Summer Playoffs in 2019, while also reaching the semi-finals at Worlds 2019 where they got eliminated by G2 Esports. FunPlus Phoenix made a move for the top laner in 2020 but he failed to leave a mark in the LPL, competing with Kim “GimGoon” Han-Saem for a starting position.

Khan will likely serve as the replacement for Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon, who became a free agent earlier this month and received multiple offers from different teams. Nuguri is seen as one of the most desirable players in free agency right now as he’s one of the most gifted young top laners available. Recent rumours saw the Korean top laner move to one of the bigger teams in the LPL, while also seeing interest from other top LCK teams. Nuguri himself reportedly hasn’t made a final decision yet and is still meeting with teams.

For DAMWON Gaming it means they’ve got their full roster together in the hopes of repeating their very successful 2020 season. Khan finds himself among Jungler Canyon, mid laner ShowMaker, bot laner Ghost and support BeryL.
