DAMWON Gaming defeats Suning and win Worlds 2020

Korean team DAMWON Gaming took on LPL team Suning Gaming in the Grand Final of the League of Legends 2020 World Championship. After some amazingly close and intense matches it was DAMWON Gaming that took home the title and beat Suning, once again bringing a Korean team to the top after the recent Chinese reign.

Things started out really well for DAMWON Gaming right of the bat as they won the first game in a pretty tight affair. Mid laner Heo “ShowMaker” Su performed very well on his Orianna and was a big factor in the win. The second game went to Suning as we saw jungler Lé “SofM” Quang pick Rengar as a counter to the Evelynn of Kim “Canyon” Geon-Bu. The strategy worked out well as Suning focussed on objectives and used those to level the score.

In the third game and fourth game DAMWON Gaming took over objective control and didn’t allow Suning anywhere near the Dragon. In both games they secured the soul and won out in teamfights, bringing themselves the Worlds 2020 title. Jungler Canyon was elected as the Worlds 2020 Finals MVP following the result.

Nuguri reacted to the win after the series. “We again proved that the LCK is a strong league and we’re happy that we (DAMWON) were the team that restored the glory of the LCK on the World stage.” Mid laner ShowMaker also had a few words. “We got eliminated after quarter finals last year, so I practiced really hard to support my teammates and am really happy that we are now able to lift this trophy.”
