Valve seemingly still hasn’t fixed the bug that caused ESIC to ban 37 coaches.
Sergey “LMBT” Bezhanov was one of those 37 banned coaches, for allegedly using the bug before that decision got overturned and he had his name cleared. He has posted a clip on Twitter where he’s waiting on a match to start, with the bug still being there.
The bug allows team coaches to have access to angles and to gather information on the enemy team, information they shouldn’t have access to altogether.
It was Mariusz “Loord” Cybulski who first made this bug public in August of 2020. According to Valve’s release notes, that bug was fixed on the same day Loord came forward.
Yesterday’s video however shows the bug still isn’t fixed, and Bezhanov is heard calling out Valve an ESIC to do something about it.
The entire investigation led by ESIC comprised of two people manually going over demos going back all the way to 2016, before bans were confirmed. The duo went over approximately 20% of almost 10,000 demos to have the 37 coached banned, ranging from a few months to three years.
The entire situation led to Valve not allowing coaches to talk to their players at all during online matches, a decision that was met with understandable negative responses.
Last January, Valve dealt out “major” bans to some of the already banned coaches, barring them for a number of Major events. Sentences went from one Major to permanent bans.
