Crimsix on CDL team salaries: “It makes me sick”

Esports has exploded in popularity over the past few years. Consequently, the salaries and earnings of players have increased in stride. In League of Legends, every offseason provides new, record-shattering contracts. Before the start of the 2021 season, a 6-million contract was quickly outshined by TSM’s 11 million acquisition.

For Call of Duty esports, the scene has reportedly been stunted in this regard. Though the Call of Duty League offers a 50K minimum, there is reportedly a $1.5 million maximum. Unlike other esports, the information on player contracts in the CDL is not readily available. Knowing the average and current minimum and and maximum is impossible.

One of the greatest CoD pros of all time, Ian “Crimsix” Porter, weighed in on the issue, and gave audiences some insight into the current state of CoD contracts. On his stream, Crimsix said “When you have one-third of the league paying the absolute minimums on salaries, that’s a huge problem.”

Crimsix claimed that a majority of the CDL only pays the bare minimum to their players. Surprisingly, the Major winning pro said that this issue is entirely preventable however nothing is being done. Crimsix stated “people who can stop them and say ‘this is not right’ are not saying a damn thing about it.

The most recent CDL seasoned ended with Atlanta FaZe lifting the championship trophy. Undoubtedly the league is likely to see rosters switch around and exchange players. The issue of contracts and salary caps will likely only continue as the offseason approaches.
