Crazy Raccoon drops entire VALORANT roster

Crazy Raccoon announced on Twitter that it has cut its entire 2021 VALORANT roster. The Japanese esports organization will look to completely rebuild and overhaul its roster ahead of the 2022 competitive season.

Despite being a near constant representative for the Japanese region, Crazy Raccoon found only middling results throughout the course of the year. Making appearances at Masters Reykjavik, Masters Berlin, and VCT Champions, Crazy Raccoon fell either in the first round or group stages in every event.

Despite finding domestic success, the team was never quite able to find its stride internationally. Now Medusa, Minty, Fisker, and Bazzi have all entered free agency. Alongside this, the team’s head coach, Mun, has also been dropped.

There have been no official confirmations concerning which players will fill out CR’s 2022 roster, however rumors have already begun to swirl. Popogachi and Meiy are expected to sign with the squad with South Korean star Seoldam reportedly interesting in joining. Munchkin is expected to be the sole returner from the starting roster to continue his role as IGL for the squad.

Though Japanese representatives have shown moments of brilliance in the VCT, the organizations themselves have clearly struggled. Zeta Division, following their losses as Masters Berlin, put a pause on its VALORANT roster to prepare instead for the following year. Considering that Crazy Raccoon has decided to undergo a full roster change, it appears that Japan is looking to improve as a region heading into 2022.
