Controversy surrounds Flashpoint’s decision to replay NiP vs Anonymo

Flashpoint’s decision to remake the NiP vs Anonymo has received intense backlash.

Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz’s debut for Ninjas in Pyjamas has been further complicated by an ongoing match dispute. After facing lag issues, NiP requested that either the third map, or entire series, be replayed. Flashpoint officials stated in a recent announcements that due to “the validity of the claim and importance of the match” they accepted NiP’s request to replay the entire series.

Flashpoint faced initial criticism for causing the packet loss issues as Dev1ce and fellow NiP players voiced their displeasure with the situation. Many players have pointed out however that NiP decided to play under the given circumstances after experiencing the lag. Team Liquid pro, Jonathan “EliGe” Jablonowski stated that the situation is “absolute craziness” and that NiP should have postponed the game if they were dealing with issues impacting their performance.

Anonymo Esports most recently released a response to the decision by Flashpoint officials. Anonymo was heavily critical of the decision stating “we’ve played a match that got finished fair and square and lies in the past.” Ultimately it seems that Anonymo was pressured into this decision.

Many players and community voices have pondered why Anonymo ultimately would have accepted NiP’s offer and projected that potential strong-arming could have been a factor. After losing in their first match, it seems that NiP will get another shot at Anonymo Esports.
