CoD Season 1 – New Game Modes for Warzone and Black Ops

The Season 1 update brings new game modes to Warzone and the Zombie Mode of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War.

After a short delay the Season 1 update for Black Ops Cold War is finally live. The patch has now connected the three games Warzone, Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare for a combined season.

The two biggest changes are a new mode and map for Warzone. The Zombie Mode also received updates with new game modes.

Zombie Modes
Jingle Hells

For the Zombie Mode two new game modes have been introduced. “Jingle Hells” on the map “Die Maschine” transforms the map into a seasonal winter-themed map and also offers new weaponry like snowballs to freeze enemies or snowmen with surprises within. This mode will be limited to the first week of Season 1.

Cranked

The other mode is “Cranked” and returns from Modern Warfare. Cranked adds a time limit to killing the zombie hordes and spices up the game mode with even more action. You can gain some temporary respite only by collecting the Cranked power up.

New Warzone Map “Rebirth Island”

The Season 1 update is the largest patch for Warzone until now and introduces the entirely new map Rebirth Island. Matches on Rebirth Island will feel similar to the Mini Battle Royale Mode as a smaller number of players will drop in compared to Verdansk.

The new map will also introduce an exclusive new game mode.

Resurgence

The new mode Resurgence puts a differnt spin on Warzone’s respawn mechanic. Instead of a Gulag fight to earn your re-entry, the game will have a global respawn timer.

As long as one member of your team is still alive when the countdown hits zero you will get another chance in Resurgence. To balance out this more forgiving mechanic, kills on players will also reveal their teammates’ locations to their killers.

In addition to the new mode there will also be a new assault helicopter introduced to both Warzone maps.
