While many have criticized the LCS for its low level of play this split, one team has been exempt. Cloud 9 has done incredibly well, dealing with their opponents without so much as a hint of trouble, disposing of TSM in a highly anticipated match. However, their true enemy was hiding in the shadows.
We saw one of the biggest upsets this LCS split in the match between C9 and 100 Thieves, with C9 seeing their win streak finally broken. 100 Thieves on the other hand has had a fairly mediocre split thus far and were considered a middle of the pack team previous to this win. Analysts, friends and foes were surprised by how one sided the match was at all, ending with a 22-8 scoreline in favour of the scoundrels.

Most credits went out to the performance of toplaner Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho and Juan “Contractz” Arturo Garcia on Camille and Olaf respectively. Ssumday, who has won Champions Korea 2014 on KT Rolster Arrows, was able to relentlessly snowball the game on the split pusher, highlighting his mechanical prowess. Contractz, on the other hand, is probably not going to be allowed to play Olaf again, as he made the best jungler in NA, Robert “Blaber” Huang look like the jungler you get in your final promo game.
While the roster swap, that saw academy players Contractz and Philippe “Poome” Lavoie-Giguere replace William “Meteos” Hartman and William “Stunt” Chen, was a risk, it seemed to have paid off splendidly for 100 Thieves.
