Cloud9 parts ways with coach Kassad

Cloud9 has decided to part ways with their coach Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunovic after a few months of their team being assembled. The General Manager of Cloud9, Henry “HenryG” Greer offered an explanation for the decision, citing differences in strategic style with their IGL Alex “Alex” McMeekin.

According to HenryG there is no bad blood between the players and Kassad, his departure is the result of a difference in style. “It simply felt like there was somewhat of a stylistic clash between the IGL (Alex) and Kassad’s game, leading to a few too many compromises from a strategic point of view.” HenryG also explained the timing of the decision. “With the player break here, I’ve decided that it was in everyone’s best interest to move in a different direction and prepare for the next season.”

It’s currently unclear who will step in as the next coach of Cloud9, with HenryG saying that the current controversy surrounding the coaching role makes things more difficult. Chances are we might see a new(er) face in the coaching position of Cloud9, as HenryG explains. “I am absolutely willing to take a gamble on someone looking to prove themselves at the very top.”

Big results from the team haven’t appeared yet, but they did recently make playoffs in the DreamHack Masters Winter and finished 3th-4th athe the BLAST Premier Fall Showdown 2020. It’ll be interesting to see if a new coach is really what this team needs to reach greater heights.
