Cloud9 announces departure of head coach Reapered

LCS team Cloud9 announced that they will be parting ways with their head coach Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu. Reapered was a part of the League of Legends team of Cloud9 for four years, joining in May 2016 after some time as a coach over at EDward Gaming.

Reapered himself talked about his departure on Twitter, as he thanked his teammates and the organization. “Thank you to all the staff members and to all the players who worked with me. And thank you to the fans who watched our journey from beginning to end, and thank you for being with us, happiness, sadness, disappointment, fulfillment, and all the emotions, with us !” It’s currently unclear where Reapered is heading next, but he looks set on continuing his work as a coach.

The Cloud9 League of Legends team was unable to qualify for Worlds, losing to TSM and taking fourth place in the LCS summer playoffs despite a relatively strong regular season. With Reapered as a coach Cloud9 reached the Worlds semi-final in 2018 where they’d eventually lose to Fnatic. Last year they also made Worlds but they failed to leave the group stage.

It seems like things are busy over at Cloud9, who recently also overhauled their entire CS:GO department, bringing in HenryG as their general manager. It’s currently unclear if Cloud9 is also looking to change up any players within their League of Legends roster.
