Cloud9 announce Elmapuddy as new CS:GO head coach

After the departure of Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunovic, Cloud9 went looking for a new head coach. They’ve now found one, as Australian coach Chris “Elmapuddy” Tebbit joins the colossus.

The move isn’t all that surprising, considering rumors of Elmapuddy joining up with Cloud9 have been circulating ever since the departure of Kassad. Considering his history with Cloud9, having worked there as an assistant coach towards the end of 2019 and moving to Gen.G, a move to head coach is the logical next step in his career. Joshua “m1cks” Micks will be moved to assistant coach.

On Twitter Elmapuddy reacted to the signing. “Excited to be back at Cloud9. This is an incredible group and we’re doing big things this year!” General Manager HenryG also commented on the announcement. “Please give a warm welcome to our new Head Coach Elmapuddy and congratulations to m1cks for the promotion. Very happy with the progression these lads have brought to the table going into our first tournament of the year! Full speed ahead.”

Up next for Cloud9 is cs_summit 7 where we’ll, alongside new head coach Elmapuddy, also see new C9 player Erick “Xeppaa” Bach competing. At CS_summit 7 Cloud9 will face FURIA in their first match on January 25, who will once again make use of substitute player Honda. They also find Ninjas in Pyjamas and Virtus.pro in their group.
